Back in 2006, when I was just a culinary student, my first food business idea was called Walker’s.
Before I met my husband, before I became a Walker myself - the Walker name belonged to a very happy, kind branch of the family tree that originated in Wales and came to Santa Monica by way of Canada.
In 2013, I met my husband, Anthony Walker, and in 2016 I became a Walker when we got married on Catalina Island. While my family came from Wales, his came from Norway.
I come from five generations of entrepreneurs and four of those generations were in the food business. My great-grandmother and her family of Walkers had a bakery in Santa Monica.
The Walker name translates to “fuller cloth” which was a trade that would work cloth to make it fuller for warmer clothes and textiles. Our aim at Walker’s Catering is to give you a fuller table. More food, less fuss!
After 15 years of full service catering with Made by Meg Catering, I’m so excited to bring one of my first food business ideas to life through Walker’s. A day doesn’t go by when our clients don’t reach out between life’s biggest moments and celebrations - asking for a way to have our cuisine without all the “fuss” and staff. Walker’s is our answer to clients who need a simple, delicious and affordable option for entertaining.
